Learning Outcomes for Grade 5
Speech and Drama
◗ Perform a variety of material using vocal and physical skills and the performance space in
response to the material
◗ Create and sustain a performance that demonstrates a performance skill showing technical
proficiency
◗ Devise and perform using published material within an invented alternative scenario
◗ Engage with unprepared material, showing ability to sight-read a text or create a story from a
series of words, understanding and conveying meaning
◗ Create and give a talk about a contributory skill that shows a competent level of understanding
and that demonstrates its value in performance (where relevant)
◗ Perform an improvisation that shows a creative and informed response to instruction or questions
provided
◗ Respond appropriately to set questions on prepared material including demonstrating a
competent level of understanding of the skills used and their value to performance
Communication Skills
◗ Engage clearly, with fluency and expression, in conversational exchanges and discussion, and in
addressing an imagined audience
◗ Express and organise ideas clearly, logically and with a degree of ownership and spontaneity.
◗ Demonstrate a sound understanding of material presented
◗ Communicate with a variety of vocal and expressive techniques, on both prepared and
unprepared topics
Term 1 – from 9th January 2023 till their exam; Trinity by end of September 2023.
Term 2 - Preparing children towards Stage Performance to be presented for parents on 16th December 2023.
